Woman ‘hating Asians’ hits man with umbrella

QUEENS, NY — A bus rider said she "hated Asians" before smacking another straphanger on the head with an umbrella in what the police are investigating as a hate crime in Flushing, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens.

The woman, who can be seen in a photo released by the police on March 29, attacked the 68-year-old man on the Q20 about 11:30 am on March 7.

It wasn’t immediately clear what provoked the attack.

The police said the victim suffered pain to his head, but did not go to a hospital.

The suspect, who wore a red baseball cap and a coat, fled the bus at Main Street and Kissena Boulevard.
