Ingredients

5 bread slicesGhee as needed to toast

For the filling

½ cup coconut3 tbsp jaggery3 tbsp chopped nuts2 tbsp chopped dates optional1 tsp ghee

Instructions

In a pan add 1 tsp ghee and add the nuts.
Roast this for few minutes, when they turn slightly golden color, add the coconut and jaggery.
Saute for 2 minutes, everything will come into a whole mass.
You can add cardamom powder or vanilla essence at this stage now.
Even you can add 1 tsp of cocoa powder too.
Switch off the flame and allow this to cool completely.

Let’s make the rolls.

Take a slice of bread, I used white bread, you can use whole wheat bread too.
Trim the sides and roll them thinly using a rolling pin
Place 1 tbsp of filling on one edge of the rolled bread.
Start rolling this from the side where the filling is placed.
Roll this tightly.
No need to seal this with water, but if you don’t roll this thinly it may not hold well.
Repeat this for the rest of the bread and fillings.
The filling came for 5 bread poli rolls.
Place a tawa on the stove and add few drops of ghee or butter.
Place the rolls on the tawa and brush with butter or ghee.
Cook on both sides on medium flame till it becomes golden brown.
Alternatively, you can shallow fry too but that consumes lot of ghee | oil.
You can cut and serve also.
This is perfect for kids snacks box too.
