Hyderabad: The popular Sunday Funday at Tank Bund had a special attraction this week, i.e. the huge cricket bat on display to welcome its guests. The world’s largest cricket bat at 56.1 feet long, weighing 9 tonnes and made from poplar wood, which also entered the Guinness World Record, left several people amazed. With the cricket fever on with the ICC T20 World Cup, many were seen taking selfies and posing for pictures near the bat.

Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, who unveiled the bat on Saturday, said that the bat is being installed on Tank Bund for people coming to Sunday Funday, to savour the visual treat the bat offers.

Performances, food stalls, sapling distribution stalls, children on skates, people enjoying the pleasant weather seeing the Buddha statue were the other elements that made the evening even more impressive. Many people took a stroll on the pavement with their pet enjoying the traffic free road, breeze and a variety of snacks made available for people.

The Sunday Funday concept besides attracting several people from parts of the city, has been providing artists a platform to showcase their talent. Last Sunday, the event was held at the iconic Charminar as ‘Ek Shaam, Charminar Ke Naam’.
