‘Who Did This?’ Indians Perform ‘Bhajan’ For Afghan Players Before Crucial Match Vs NZ

Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket team have found themselves at an interesting juncture during the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 and their only hopes of making it to the next round rest on the shoulders of Afghanistan.

The situation at the moment is that the Men in Blue need Mohammad Nabi and the rest of the Afghan squad to pull out a miracle victory against Kane Williamson’s boys in the crucial match on Sunday. This would allow India a chance to make it to the next round if they draw a victory over Namibia on Monday.

Can #Afghanistan spin #India‘s comeback tale?

If Afghanistan do beat #NewZealand, India, with a healthy net run rate, will only need to beat minnows #Namibia to make the semis @T20WorldCup

As a result, the entire community of Indian cricket fans will be backing up their dynamic and enthusiastic rivals in Afghanistan and wish to see their hands raised at the end of the 40 overs that will be delivered today.

Some of the Indian supporters went on to take an extra step and combined the pictures of all of the Afghanistan cricketers in a single video while Lord Krishna’s bhajan from the film Lagaan plays in the background.

Former Indian cricketer and analyst Aakash Chopra shared the video from his Twitter handle asking who decided to come up with such a unique way of showing their support for the Afghans.

Usually, such mashups lead to a lot of negative comments and controversies but considering what is at stake at the moment, none of the social media trolls was willing to fall into all that controversy and simply decided to join Chopra in wishing well for Nabi’s men.

One of the greatest news for Afghanistan and India at the moment is that one of the biggest names from the former squad, Mujib Ur Rahman, who was ruled out for the last two matches due to an injury, could be seen back on the field, and could be fit enough to play in the clash against the Kiwis.

The match between New Zealand and Afghanistan has attracted a lot of international attention as well. While some believe that considering the unpredictable nature of T20Is, Afghanistan have a fair chance of defeating the Black Caps, others like Shoaib Akhtar suggest that if that does end up happening, a lot of questions could be raised about the fairness of the game at the highest level of them all.

World Cup becomes very interesting. It seems like India is heading closer to the miracle which looked impossible.
New Zealand will be under a lot of pressure against Afghanistan. It will be a virtual quarter final for them.
