Watch: Pant’s Monster 6 Leaves SA Fielders Searching For The Ball & Fans Say ‘Je Baat’

BUY-SELL | HELP WANTED | MATRIMONIAL

Rishabh Pant is an exciting character and he is someone that Test cricket desperately needs, according to former England skipper Michael Vaughan.

The wicket-keeper batter was under fire for poor shot selection in the ongoing tour of South Africa. Pant had scores of 8,34,17,0 and 27 before Thursday.

The 24-year-old walked out to bat with India in a tricky situation in the Test series decider after losing Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane in quick succession early on Day 3.

Cricket needs players like @RishabhPant17 !! This is a serious knock .. #SAvsIND

He played a thrilling knock to stitch a 94-run stand with captain Virat Kohli to bail India out of trouble.

During his knock, Pant took a special liking to Keshav Maharaj and he smashed the South Africa spinner to all parts of the ground.

The rest of the Indian batters 70 runs

After the Lunch interval on Day 3, Pant slammed two consecutive maximums off Maharaj. The first one was a trademark one-handed slog from the left-hander but the other one went deep into the stands and left the South African fielders searching for the ball in the stands.

2 sixes and the ball is lost. Another six and we can stop on shaved spinners vs Pant conspiracy

Pant didn’t stop there as he went on to score an outstanding century to become the only wicket-keeper batter from India to score a Test hundred in Australia, England and South Africa.

Pant’s knock was laced with six boundaries and four big hits that went over the ropes. It was not the first time when Pant came to the party in a crucial Test match for the team.

He was the wrecker-in-chief when India managed to get the better of Australia in Gabba last year. Known for his unorthodox approach to batting, this is what you expect from someone like Pant — counter-attack cricket.

With this knock, Pant helped India set South Africa a target of 211 in the series decider.

We believe the cricket pundits will leave him alone for some time now after one of the best innings that an Indian batter has played in South Africa.
