Kolkata, Oct 15 (IANS) Five people have been detained here for creating "public nuisance" outside the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, which is now hosting the Under-17 World Cup.

"The five were detained for creating public nuisance. They were in a drunken state," an officer of Bidhannagar South police station told IANS on Saturday.

When asked whether anybody has been arrested in this regard, he categorically answered in the negative.

"We have not arrested anybody," he said.

He also denied that those detained were doing duty as volunteers for the World Cup.

Earlier, there were reports that seven persons, including three volunteers, were arrested for black marketing of tickets for Saturday's Group F double bill – Japan versus New Caledonia and England versus Iraq.

However, the officer denied any black marketing of tickets.
