Two Indian-American Brothers Killed in Murder-Suicide Case in NY

NEW YORK, NY- Devastating news coming in from Queens in New York where a tragedy struck an Indian-American family. A shocking murder-suicide killed two brothers. The incident occurred a few days ago, involving 33-year-old Karamjit Multani, shooting to death his 27-year-old brother Vipanpal Multani as well as his mother whom he shot in the stomach. Karamjit then turned the gun on himself. The family patriarch and father of two brothers Bhupinder Multani told CBS News that Karamjit entered Vipanpal’s room and shot him without warning. Curiously, Karamjit showed no signs of aggression toward his family and the family said they said they had no idea he had a gun. He was married with three young kids and was financially sound. As the older son started his rampage, the father ran to the house of a neighbor, who called 911. That neighbor entered the house and found Vipanpal Multani shot and pleading, ‘Please, don’t let me die.” “He died in my hands later,” the neighbor said. Bhupinder Multani maintained that he didn’t see any signs of anger, depression or instability in his eldest son. But he thinks that Karamjit planned the attack and intended to wipe out everyone in the house. He said, “He wanted to kill me. He wanted to kill my wife. He wanted to kill my son.”

On the on the morning of the incident, Karamjit sent his wife and three toddlers to Indiana, where his wife’s family lived. According to the father, he did it “because he feared he’d wanted to kill them too.” The relatives are shocked. Karamjit and Vipanpal’s brother-in-law Jaspreet Singh wondered. “Whenever they go, they always go together.”

The brothers shared a two-story brick house in the Richmond Hill neighborhood of Queens. The incident unfolded that fateful night when Karamjit went into Vipanpal’s room and started shooting with two guns, Jaspreet Singh said,“My father-in-law came from the back and grabbed him,” but the father informed that he had “yet another weapon tucked in his waistband.”

Father Bhupinder Multani said, “When my wife tried to shield Vipanpal , she suffered a gunshot wound to the torso.” She was taken to hospital and is stable.

Bhupinder Kept a hold on his son until he was able to shove him out the front door. Karamjit then went in his car and changed his clothes. The father said, “when cops arrived, he ran behind the house, jumped a fence, then shot himself in the head in front of a house.”
