Transformer explosion: SPM worker succumbs

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: One of the two workers, who sustained serious injuries in an explosion of an electrical transformer in Sirpur Papers Mill Limited (SPM) of Kaghaznagar town, died at a hospital in Hyderabad on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Pudari Laxminarayana, (52), a resident of Kapuwada in Kaghaznagar town and a contract-based worker of the paper manufacturer. Gyara Mohan (40), another worker died on the spot, on November 11.

Laxminarayana and Mohan Rao received over 50 per cent of burns, when they were pruning grass at a power station following the explosion of the 132 kv transformer caused due to some unknown reasons. They were shifted to a government hospital in Kaghaznagar. They were then rushed to a Mancherial’s hospital before being shifted to Hyderabad when their condition deteriorated.
