Aishwarya at cannes_l

New Delhi : We rate the sartorial choices of Indian divas who walked the red carpet at the 65th Cannes Film Festival. While some sizzled, others simply fizzled out FLIRTY & FABULOUS
Freida Pinto got all eyes on her when she walked the red carpet in a pink strapless multicoloured bodice with thigh-high slit gown.

Expert speak: Designer Charu Parashar says, “She looks fab in this off-shoulder pink gown. The look is wonderfully put together with a sequinned clutch. Minimal makeup adds freshness to the look.”

NOT GOOD IN A HOOD
Dare-bare actor Mallika Sherawat went offtrack with this demure look. She wore a beige coloured gown with a hood by Paris-based designer Ali Mahdavi.

Expert speak: Designer Pam Mehta says, “The gown with a hood does not go with her vivacious personality and unflattering makeup didn’t work for her.”

ETHINIC ROCKS
Aishwarya Rai looked stunning in a chikan sari by designers Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla, paired with heavy embroidered full-sleeved blouse.

Expert speak: Designer Ashima Singh says, “Aishwarya is looking lovely in this traditional attire. Statuesque and royal in white and gold. The smoky eyes are adding drama to her look.”

UNFLATTERING CURVES
Aishwarya chose a midnight blue coloured sequinned Elie Saab gown for her red carpet appearance, which failed to impress the fashion critics.

Expert speak: Designer Anjalee Kapoor says, “She should have dressed according to her figure. This gown, with a high waist slim belt, is not appealing.”

GLAMOROUS IN WHITE
Actor Niharika Singh turned many heads with her appearance in a flowy Swapnil Shinde chiffon gown.

Expert speak: Designer Swapnil Shinde says, “Niharika looks just right in this prinstine white flowy gown. Red lips, silver watch and clutch are just the right amount of accessories.”

BUCKLE UP
Actor Kalki Koechlin wore a blush Dior gown at the Cannes. She looked just about average, but there was nothing wow-worthy.

Expert speak: Fashion stylist Aakanksha Jain says, “Kalki could have experimented with something bright and daring instead of this washed out gown. The statement neckpiece is out of place too.”

GOTHIC LETDOWN
India’s answer to Hollywood fashionistas, Sonam Kapoor failed to create buzz in her Alexander McQueen tulle gown with ruffled neck.

Expert speak: Designer Anjalee Kapoor says, “Gown is fine, but it could have looked better with side parting in hairstyle and experimenting more with the accessories.”

DROP DEAD GORGEOUS
Sonam looked like a princess in this red velvet Dolce & Gabbana voluminous dress. The love hair accessory and earrings adds glamour to her look.

Expert speak: Designer Pam Mehta says, “This classic knee length gown shows Sonam’s versatility in exploring design. She looks stunning here and the styling is great too.”
