The Pakistan Cricket Board is in the middle of an absolute meltdown after New Zealand and England refused to tour the country for international series after security and safety concerns shook their confidence in the Pakistan security agencies.

The Black Caps were already in Islamabad and were about to head into the series against Babar Azam and his boys when New Zealand Cricket received a message threatening to place bombs in the team’s routes, hotels and even their flights. Unwilling to risk the lives of their cricketers, the NZ cricket board decided to call off their players.

Shortly after, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also withdrew the men’s and women’s series.

In a virtual media interaction, PCB Chair Ramiz Raja further expressed his worries over West Indies and Australia also following suit and cancelling their respective tours of Pakistan citing similar reasoning.

All the England players likely to be available for IPL playoffs as ECB looks set to cancel their Pakistan tour.

“It’s the feeling of being used and then binned. That’s the feeling I have right now,” Raja told reporters. “A little bit of hand-holding, a little bit of caring was needed after New Zealand pull out and we didn’t get that from England which is so frustrating.”

“We’ve been going out of our way to meet the international demands, being such a responsible member of the cricketing fraternity, and in return, we get a response from ECB saying the players were spooked by New Zealand’s withdrawal. What does that mean?” he asked.

Then came the press conference in which Fawad Chaudhry, Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting in the Pakistan government, blamed India for the threats that were received by New Zealand which kickstarted the whole withdrawal process.

Enraged and frustrated with no teams willing to play in Pakistan, their fans and gurus have suggested boycotting Pakistan’s matches against India, England and New Zealand in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.

Lets cancel our matches of world cup with india and new zealand at the last minutes…..on grounds of our choosing

Pakistan decision to give major jolt in upcoming world cup as in round matches pakistan to play against india

You @TheRealPCB bunch of old people need to put your courage together and boycott all the upcoming matches with NZ including World Cup.

NZ hasn’t done anything for Pakistan so we don’t need to turn a deaf ear on this sport-diplomacy decision of NZ. #PakistanIsSafe

Pakistan shouldn’t play against New Zealand alps boycott first 2 matches of World Cup

Pakistan should boycott all matches including World Cup…

— Tanzim (@tanzimbd10) September 17, 2021

@TheRealPCB should boycott all the @BLACKCAPS matches for couple of years, including the world cup matches for damaging the image of Pakistan

With the kind of struggle the PCB is going through just to bring teams to their grounds to play matches, boycotting World Cup games against three of the biggest teams may not be the most practical way of mending relationships. But then, with the kind of ‘Western agenda’ allegations Raja has levelled against SENA countries, the chances of restoring such relations don’t seem too good as it is.
