New Delhi, Jan 21 (IANS) If you missed watching India’s largest ice cream contest in the past, here is another chance. DuPont Nutrition & Health – a leading supplier of food ingredient solutions to the global dairy industry – is back with "Season 5" of its highly successful “The Great Indian Ice Cream Contest”.

Held in partnership with the Indian Dairy Association, the unique contest will challenge the creativity of Indian ice cream manufacturers as they pit themselves against one another with their best scoop ideas, the company said in a statement.

“In the food business, it is what is inside the product that makes the difference. At DuPont Nutrition & Health, we know food and we understand the market,” said Brian Jones, regional president, South Asia, at DuPont.

“We are passionate about innovation and continue to work together with our customers to inspire ice cream innovation in India. This is why we are back with another season of this unique event,” he added.

From 21 participants in 2008, when the first contest was held, the competition saw 74 participants in 2013.

“This year, the contest has received an overwhelming response of more than 90 participants,” said the DuPont officials.

The primary objective of the contest is to collaborate with local dairy industry and help turn challenges into business opportunities.

“This contest is a collaborative platform that brings together manufacturers from across the Indian dairy industry. Competition from the past seasons has been intense but this undoubtedly brings out of the box creations and unique product offerings to the table,” noted Sanjay Iqbal, sales director, South Asia at DuPont.

The judges of the competition are set to receive training and orientation regarding sensory evaluation and other parameters from the world-renowned ice cream expert Vasco de Sousa who has nearly 28 years of experience in the ice cream industry.

The competition, open to all manufacturers of ice creams and frozen desserts in India, is scheduled to be held in Gurgaon on February 11 and the results will be declared on the same day.
