Rome, Feb 17: AS Roma's versatile footballer Alessandro Florenzi on Friday underwent another left knee surgery after he injured the same anterior cruciate ligament which was ruptured in October.

The operation meant that the season is over for the 25-year-old as Roma stated that "the recovery period is estimated at five months".

The Italian international was progressing well and was on the verge of making his comeback after left knee surgery in October. But his comeback plans have been postponed for another six months at least after he was injured again during training earlier this week.

"During today's operation, the old ACL graft was replaced with a patellar tendon graft from his right knee. The player will be kept under observation for a few days before beginning a treatment programme next week," Roma said in their website.
