SBI, CCMB tie up for pandemic research

Hyderabad: SBI Foundation has associated with CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) to set up the SBI Foundation Centre of Excellence for Genomics Guided Pandemic Prevention to strengthen India’s genome sequencing capabilities.

Dinesh Khara, chairman, SBI inaugurated the CoE and handed over a cheque of Rs 9.94 crore to Dr Vinay Kumar Nandicoori, director, CCMB. Satellite centres will be set up in AP and Meghalaya.

Khara said the centre will provide invaluable data for understanding Covid-19, thereby enabling the country to make informed, data-driven decisions in facing the challenges of the pandemic.

The event was also attended by O P Mishra, DMD & CDO, Corporate Centre, Mumbai; R Viswanathan, DMD, IAD, Hyderabad; Manjula Kalyanasundaram, MD, SBI Foundation, and other team members from the SBI Foundation team.
