Rohit Aggarwala Appointed New York Climate Chief

NEW YORK, NY- The new climate leadership team formed by NYC Mayor Eric Adams will be headed by Indian American environmentalist Rohit T. Aggarwala. An expert on urban sustainability, technology and mobility has been designated as the chief climate officer and commissioner of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.

Aggarwala has in the past led the creation of the Mayor’s Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability under previous Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.

A PhD from Columbia University, Aggarwala will be reporting to Deputy Mayor for Operations Meera Joshi.
