Richard Verma Named US Special Rep for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery

Indian American Richard Verma, who is currently the Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources has been appointed to help rebuild the war-ravaged Ukraine. He will be undertaking the responsibility along with his current position.

Verma has previously been the US ambassador to India. It may be noted that Verma is the highest ranking Indian American official ever in the State Department.
In his new responsibility, Verma would be carrying on the work that Special Envoy Penny Pritzker had started.

According to officials Verma would continue building on the foundation that Special Envoy Pritzker had laid when it came to private sector engagement or working with allies and partners.
