NEW JERSEY — New Jersey residents enrolled in the state’s ANCHOR (Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters) program will soon receive property tax benefits. According to the Division of Taxation, the first round of payments began processing on October 1, with checks and direct deposits expected by mid-month. Approximately 1.5 million residents were automatically enrolled this year, and an estimated 2 million people will receive benefits, ranging from $450 to $1,750.
Homeowners and renters who submitted applications will receive payments within 90 days of submission. The Division of Taxation has updated its website to allow residents to check their benefit status, but some users have encountered issues accessing the page. Officials recommend using a desktop computer and ensuring no multiple browser sessions are open.
The deadline for new applications is November 30. Homeowners are eligible for up to $1,500, while renters can receive up to $450. Seniors aged 65 and older will get an additional $250.
Eligibility is based on 2021 residency, income, and age. Homeowners with an annual income of $250,000 or less, and renters with an income of $150,000 or less, are eligible. Free sessions are available across the state for residents needing assistance with their applications.
