New Delhi, Dec 16: More than 2,200 youth from Jammu and Kashmir state are getting trained by 29 corporates across the country under Project Udaan, the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) said here.

The project, an initiative of the prime minister, the National Skill Development Corporation and the home ministry, was started to provide skills to 40,000 youth over a five-year period.

“Udaan is a ground-breaking initiative. The project was conceived and implemented as a socio-economic commitment that would provide an opportunity for the youth of J&K to look beyond the state boundaries and benefit from the corporate opportunities throughout the country and globally," said NSDC chief executive Dilip Chenoy.

"We have already conducted two selection drives, wherein we selected 56 Udaan candidates from round one, who are already getting training at Amity Noida and NITTTR Bhopal," said Sanjeev Garg, Global Head (Customer Care, Commercial Vehicles), Tata Motors.
