CLEVELAND (OH) — N. Mohan Reddy, an Indian American professor in the design and innovation department and former dean of Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management, will be the inaugural chairholder of a $3.6-million professorship that honors longtime benefactor and well-known businessman B. Charles Ames.
The endowed chair of the B. Charles Ames Professorship in Management was created with a $2-million gift from the Ames Family Foundation and gifts from friends and former colleagues. Joe Rice, principal at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice LLC (CD&R) and Ames’ good friend, made a $1-million gift toward establishing the professorship.
Ames is the retired vice-chairman of CD&R in New York, former chairman and CEO of Reliance Electric Co., CEO of Acme Cleveland Corp., chairman and CEO of the Uniroyal Goodrich Tire Co. and a director and managing partner in the Cleveland offices of McKinsey & Co.
To date, Ames has given $6 million to the university.
