New Delhi, May 2 (IANS) The power bills of Delhiites will not go up till July as the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) Friday decided to extend the existing electricity tariff for three months.

The three power distribution companies had sought increase in tariff to adjust their power purchase cost.

However, the DERC decided to extend the existing power tariff, citing delay in submission of Power Purchase Cost Adjustment Charges (PPAC) by the power companies.

"Due to delay in submission of PPAC claims for the January-March 2014 quarter, there is no sufficient time for seeking additional relevant information and for scrutiny of data submitted by the discoms with PPAC claims," DERC Secretary Jaishree Raghuraman said in a statement.

"The commission has decided provisionally to extend the existing PPAC surcharge till further order," the statement said, which implies power tariffs will remain same till July 31.
