Pak eatery uses ‘Gangubai’ pic in ad, draws flak

New Delhi: A Pakistani restaurant has attracted criticism on social media for using a scene from Bollywood film “Gangubai Kathiawadi” starring Alia Bhatt to promote an offer meant only for men. In the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial, Alia plays the role of sex worker Gangubai who goes on to become a brothel owner. The advertisement used by the Karachi-based-restaurant on Instagram highlights a scene from the movie where the actress calls her first customer. IANS

London: Starting with the world premiere of the Taapsee Pannu-led thriller ‘Dobaaraa’, this year’s London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) opens next week in London with a strong female line-up of Indian actors and filmmakers. The LIFF 2022 includes the European premiere of ‘The Rapist’, starring Konkana Sen Sharma and Arjun Rampal, followed by a discussion with the award-winning director of the film — Aparna Sen. Boats collide in Florida; two killed, 10 rescued

Miami: Two persons were killed and 10 had to be rescued when their boats collided at night near Key Biscayne in South Florida, the US Coast Guard and local authorities say. The Coast Guard said a person involved in the collision notified the agency of the crash around 10:30 pm (local time) on Friday. Two bodies were recovered in the rescue operation. AP
