PHILADELPHIA, PA -Pennsylvania State Police are reminding the public to be on the look-out for scammers that try to take residents’ money through phone, email and social media.
These scammers are evolving and “constantly trying to come up with new ways to obtain money from victims,” Trooper Megan Ammerman said.
Ammerman said the state police’s Carlisle station have already handled at least 20 theft by deception or identity theft cases this year.
“The Pennsylvania State Police would like to remind everyone that any legitimate company or department would not request gift cards for any payment at any time,” Ammerman said in a news release. “Never give out your personal information or give money to anyone you do not trust.”
