Nothing Ear (1) Has Officially Been Revealed And It Will Compete With The AirPods Pro

Nothing officially unveiled the ear (1) at its launch event today and showed off the design of the TWS earbuds. The wireLESS earbuds have a transparent design on the charging case and part of the earbuds. The truly wireless earbuds are said to last up to 34 hours with the charging case and also has Active Noise Cancellation. Nothing ear (1) will be available in India for Rs 5,999 from 17th August 2021.

“Nothing ear (1) is a breath of fresh air in a cluttered and indifferent market, setting the tone for our connected digital world to come,” said Carl Pei, CEO and Co-founder of Nothing. “It marries advanced technology, precise engineering, and groundbreaking design at an unbelievable price.”

The earbuds also use some unconventional design cues where each earbud has been marked with a colour instead of the traditional ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ symbols. The red dot stands for the ‘Right’ earbuds while the white dot denotes the ‘Left’ earbuds. Each earbud also weighs about 4.7gm and has replacement silicon tips. The earbuds come with three silicone tips of different sizes however it’s unclear whether the company will be selling additional replacements in the near future.

In terms of the audio hardware, each earbud has an 11.6mm driver that has been designed by the folks at Teenage Engineering. The earbuds also work with a companion that is available for both Android and iOS devices. The earbuds also have a flat stem which can be used for gesture controls. Finally, each earbud come with three high definition microphones that aid in better noise cancellation and clearer voice calls. 

The active noise cancellation feature on the Nothing ear (1) has three modes where i.e. Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode and ANC off. The company also said that it has developed some form of Clear Voice Technology to reduce background noise for voice calls.

Finally, the charging case also uses a transparent design where you can clearly see the earbuds tucked inside while charging. The charging case also supports fast charging where 10 minutes of charging can yield 8 hours of battery. Finally, the Nothing ear (1)’s charging case also supports Qi wireless charging and is compatible with all Qi wireless chargers. 

Other nifty features include a ‘Find My Earbud’ feature where users will be able to detect their earbuds by playing a sound from the companion app. The earbuds also support Fast Pairing, In-ear detection and are also sweat and water splash resistant.
