WAYNE (NJ) — A New Jersey Transit bus driver is being investigated after a rider caught him reading for 10 minutes while in stop-and-go traffic.
The commuter took photos of the driver last week while the bus was traveling along Interstate 80 in Wayne.
The driver read what appeared to be a vacation pamphlet. Then he placed a hardcover book on the steering wheel and had his eyes on that at times.
The 324 bus, which travels between the Wayne Park & Ride and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, had about 40 passengers on board.
NJ Transit has said that it will take “swift and appropriate” action when it completes its investigation.
