Niles North DECA students excel

NILES, IL — Niles North DECA students attended the Illinois DECA Competitive Business and Marketing Club State Competition held on March 10 through 12 at the Rosemont Hyatt Regency O’Hare Hotel.

Over 1,400 students across the state of Illinois met to compete in Business Role Play Events, Marketing Cluster tests, Economic tests and many different business, entrepreneurship, marketing and advertising projects.
Students advancing from state competition will meet in Nashville, TN on April 22 through 26 to compete at the International Career and Development Conference (ICDC).
Niles North DECA students advancing to International Competition are:
Claire O’Kane and Bushra Amiwala for Learn & Earn Project; Grant Slovin and Jeff Olickal for Public Relations Project, and Rebecca Rabizadeh for Community Service Project.
Niles North DECA had 10 individuals as Top 10 finalists in their categories:
Jeff Olickal, Automotive Services Marketing Series; Aaron Niederman, Food Marketing Series; Simeon Trendafiou, Principles of Business Management; Bushra Amiwala, Principles of Marketing; Rebecca Rabizadeh, Retail Merchandising Series; Claire O’Kane, Retail Merchandising Series; Tuvya (Ty) Miller, Advertising Campaign; Jissmaria (Jissy) Karickal, Financial Literacy Promotion Project; and Bushra Amiwala and Claire O’Kane, International Business Plan.
Interacting with adult judges and networking with business students throughout the state was a great learning experience for students. In addition, DECA students across the state, as well as Niles North Chapter, helped raise money this year for The Epilepsy Foundation.
