New Zealand Call Off Pak Tour Due To Security Threat & Their Fans Are Busy Blaming India

The New Zealand cricket team’s tour of Pakistan has come to an end even before it could start.

The Blackcaps have decided to abandon the tour following a “security alert” released by the New Zealand government.

The white-ball series, comprising three ODIs and five T20Is was scheduled to begin on Friday (September 17) at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium but the whole tour was called off in the 11th hour over security issues, just minutes before the scheduled toss for the first ODI.

“Following an escalation in the New Zealand Government threat levels for Pakistan, and advice from NZC security advisors on the ground, it has been decided the Blackcaps will not continue with the tour. Arrangements are now being made for the team’s departure,” the New Zealand Cricket said in a media statement.

David White, the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) chief executive, said that players’ security was paramount and that is why they took the decision to call off the tour after being informed about a security threat by their country’s government.

“I understand this will be a blow for the PCB, who have been wonderful hosts, but player safety is paramount and we believe this is the only responsible option,” White said in a NZC press release.

The Pakistani fans, who were excited to see live cricket, obviously slammed the touring party’s decision to unilaterally cancel the tour. And as usual, some of the disgruntled supporters even lashed out at India and blamed them for this cancellation.

It soon turned into an ugly fight between the supporters of the two countries on the micro-blogging site.

Pakistanis listen up.

Don’t throw hate at the Kiwis.

They were put in a position they ultimately weren’t comfortable with and made a difficult call. Their lens isn’t the same as your lens.

Remember they made the effort to travel in the first place.

Pakistan should boycott India for threatening teams.
India lobby is behind this tour cancellation

Dirty politics of BCCI behind it.

Pakistani fans must understand that they look like fools when they blame India for anything that goes wrong in their country. Instead of asking their own cricket board and government about the security threat, they waste their energy targeting India — just like their political leaders do.

We know how passionate Pakistani people are about cricket and we do not wish for anyone to be deprived of watching their cricketers play in front of them.

However, the reason why the teams are hesitant in visiting Pakistan is because they are afraid of their safety and we can’t blame them for that.

The tour was historic in so many ways. The Kiwis had travelled to Pakistan for the first time in 18 years. The Pakistan Cricket Board had a lot riding on the successful completion of this limited-overs series but it all came to a disappointing end.

This cancellation could mean that other teams like England and Australia, who were to visit Pakistan in the next one year or so, might think twice before touring the country.
