New York Consulate To Remain Open 365 Days

NEW YORK, NY – The Indian Consulate here has announced its commitment to staying open year-round, including weekends and holidays, to cater to urgent needs.

According to a press release from the Consulate General of India, New York, effective May 10, it will operate from 2 pm to 4 pm on all holidays.

“It’s important to note that this service is specifically for genuine emergencies, not routine consular matters,” emphasized the Consulate.

Applicants are advised to contact the Consulate’s emergency helpline at 1-917-815-7066 before visiting for urgent assistance. This helps in assessing the necessary supporting documents and ensuring they qualify as emergency services, which cannot wait until the next working day.

Primarily, the facility addresses emergency travel document needs such as Emergency Visas, Emergency Certificates (for same-day travel to India), and transportation of mortal remains on the same day.

The Consulate General reiterated that applicants availing emergency visa services will be subject to an emergency service fee, consistent with existing practice.
