BOSTON, TX: Different Indian communities of Greater Boston Land gathered in the Shivalaya Temple of Medford on January 1 to welcome the New Year with their humble prayers to bring happiness, prosperity and peace in the world.

The temple was open for the whole day and made it very convenient for the devotees to have Darshan and Archanas of their favorite deities any time of this special day.

President Vijay Kumar Selhi organized special Samohik Pujas and Archanas on this occasion in the morning. Many families came to celebrate this festive occasion with their loved ones and in large gatherings.

All the devotees, especially women and children, wore traditional Indian colorful dresses and participated with utmost religious fervor in the prayers, singing bhajans and Maha Mangalarati.

Before Arati, children sang Gayatri Mantra with full dedication. The temple also arranged a social feast comprising different Indian traditional sweets, snacks, dry fruits along with hot tea and coffee for all the devotees throughout the day.

People greeted and wished each other a ’Happy New Year.’ An active and enthusiastic temple priest, Pandit Jay Narayana Badal, greeted all the devotees with a big smile and tirelessly performed everyone’s Archana with religious zeal and piety.

He prayed and blessed all the devotees for their prosperous New Year filled with joy, happiness, affluence, success, and peace. Sudershan Sharma thanked every devotee for their participation and making the event a grand success.
