Nearly 180 Illegal Immigrants Arrested in Nationwide ICE Operation

WASHINGTON, DC- ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) conducted a nationwide operation arresting 171 illegal immigrants wanted for crimes, including child sexual assault and murder.

Acting ICE Director Patrick Lechleitner emphasized the commitment to targeting individuals convicted of heinous crimes, such as assault against children. Arrested individuals had convictions for offenses like child molestation, child pornography, rape, and murder.

Some had been previously deported. In fiscal year 2023, ERO arrested 73,822 non-citizens with criminal histories, totaling 290,178 associated charges and convictions, including assaults, sex crimes, weapons offenses, homicide, and kidnapping. The operation highlights efforts to address the increasing number of illegal immigrants in the United States, with over 3.2 million encounters reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in fiscal year 2023, a 15% increase from the previous yea
