Nasscom ranks TCS top employer in IT industry

Bengaluru, July 25 (IANS) Global software major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is the top employer in the Indian IT industry, followed by Infosys, Cognizant and Wipro, the industry’s representative body Nasscom said on Monday.

According to the National Association of Software and Services Companies’ (Nasscom) annual rankings of top IT-BPM (business process management) employers in the country for 2016, TCS heads the Indian IT industry, with 362,079 employees.

Women account for 33.8 per cent of the IT bellwether.

City-based outsourcing major Infosys ranked second, with 197,050 techies, followed by Cognizant Technology Solutions India, Wipro, Capgemini India, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Genpact, Intelenet Global Service and Aegis.

The other 10 employers are Hinduja Global Solutions, CSC India, WNS Global Services, Syntel, Mphasis, EXL, L&T Infotech, Firstsource Solutions, MindTree and CGI.

Though Cognizant is a US-based IT major, it has the largest number of employees in India, with development centres at Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
