Muguruza advances to second round of Qatar Open

Doha, Feb 15: Spanish tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza advanced to the second round of the Qatar Open after defeating Turkey's Cagla Buyukakcay 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and 15 minutes here on Wednesday.

In the next round, Muguruza, seeded fifth, will take on China's Zhang Shuai, ranked 31st in the world, who defeated the Hungarian Timea Babos 7-6, 6-3, reports Efe.

Puerto Rico's Monica Puig, Olympic champion at the 2016 Rio Games, eliminated Germany's Laura Siegemund 6-0, 6-1 victory in just 40 minutes.
