Manchester, June 9: Manchester United midfielder and French international Paul Pogba on Friday praised his club's head coach Jose Mourinho and said the Portuguese deserved to be called as a "special one".

The 24-year-old also said that the trust Mourinho has placed in his players helped them grow better as a player.

Pogba has made 30 appearances with United in 2016-17 season scoring five goals in all competitions.

"He's a manager who is really close with the players. He trusted and defended me. That's all a player needs." Pogba was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"I had to adapt to the English football but the more I trained the better it got. All in all, it was a good season.

"He is the Special One because he wins, sometimes he does some extreme things. Against Chelsea, he changed our tactical formation just before the game. We had never trained it before but it worked out well. That was special. He won three trophies in his first year, that's special as well. He deserves his name," he added.

Having played only one season for Man United earlier in 2011-12, Pogba also felt it was a bit hard to adapt the English conditions though the season went well.

"I had to adapt to the English football but the more I trained the better it got. All in all, it was a good season," Pogba, who was signed for a record-fee of 89.3 million pounds ($113.79 million) from Serie A holder Juventus, said.

Mourinho helped United to clinch Europa League title which helped them to seal a place in the Champions League in his very first season as a coach. The Red Devils also clinched the EFL Cup this season.
