SOUTH BRUNSWICK (NJ) – The police have issued an arrest warrant for Haziq Shah, a 23-year-old Edison man wanted in connection with the recent theft of several hundred dollars from a donation box at a local mosque.

Shah, who has been charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief, allegedly entered the Islamic Center of New Jersey and cut into a sheetrock wall to get to the box as worshippers walked past unaware.

The police have released images from a surveillance video of a man in the mosque at the time the crime occurred, and the images helped generate a number of leads.

A police spokesman said Shah, a fugitive, might be connected to similar thefts at mosques in Middlesex County this month.
