CHICAGO — About 50 children were evacuated from the Chicago Children’s Museum after a small fire in an elevator.
The Navy Pier museum was evacuated after someone noticed smoke coming from an elevator.
Fire officials who were called to Navy Pier just before 1 pm on February 13 found a small fire in an “elevator control area.” The light smoke conditions were caused by an elevator motor, officials said later.
No evacuation of Navy Pier was necessary, but the museum was evacuated until the smoke was dispersed as an extra precaution.
