Mumbai : Bollywood’s item queen, Malaika Arora Khan, has scored another hit number with Anarkali Disco Chali from the upcoming Housefull 2.

And the song’s popularity has been instrumental in making the Super Fight League (SFL) organisers rope her in for a performance at the opening ceremony in Chandigarh on
April 7 .

“For me, the first reason was SFL’s novelty factor. But the driving force behind accepting the offer was the people who are involved with the sporting event-Raj (Kundra), Shilpa (Shetty) and Sanju (Sanjay Dutt). I know all of them on a personal level. So when they asked me to be a part of the event, it went without saying that I would extend my support,” says Malaika.

Ask the ‘Munni badnaam hui…’ performer about her first gig as Anarkali and she chuckles, “I am looking forward to it. After all, it will be my first live show with the song. My son (Arhaan) is also very excited about it. He actually wants to see one of the live fights too,” Malaika adds.

Bipasha Basu had performed at the mixed martial arts’ inaugural fight night on March 11 in Mumbai. Kundra explains why they didn’t book the Jism star for their opening ceremony too, saying, “Malaika has some great songs, is super sexy and, above all, a good dancer. We try and choose the best performers all the time, and since it’s a televised event, we can’t repeat our entertainers.
That’s why Bipasha wasn’t chosen again.”

While her plate is full preparing for her upcoming live performance, Malaika might also be reprising her Munni avatar in Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2.

Ask her about the item number and she says with a smile, “We haven’t taken a call yet. So, I would only say, ‘let’s wait and watch.'”
