Madhavan At A ‘Loss Of Words’ After Seeing Olympic Hero Mirabai Chanu’s Humble Home

The whole nation is proud of Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, a girl from the Impala district of Manipur who recently wrote history and brought home the silver medal in the women’s 49 Kg weightlifting at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.

After her victory, while the celebration was grand, Mirabai was seen enjoying a sumptuous meal, sitting on the floor of her house. 

This picture went viral, and the athlete won everyone’s hearts with this humble photo as it proved that ‘poverty is never an excuse for achieving one’s dreams’, as said by Rajat Sethi.

The picture caught the attention of many Bollywood celebrities as well. Actor R Madhavan said that he couldn’t believe that it’s Mirabai Chanu in the photo.

He shared the photo of Mirabai enjoying rice with curry on the kitchen floor with her family whilst looking at the camera. 

He wrote, “Hey, this cannot be true. I am at a complete loss of words.”

Following Maddy’s reaction, many people were quick to comment on the picture as well:

Mirabai, later on, shared another picture of having home-cooked food. She wrote, “That smile when you eat Ghar ka khana after 2 years.” In a recent interview, after winning the medal, she had also said that she would like to order some pizza after getting back home. As she is spending time with her family, brands are talking deals with her. In fact, Domino’s promised her free pizza for life, whereas INOX said that she wouldn’t have to pay money for a movie ticket.

Many actors from Bollywood showed their love for the Olympic winner. 

Anil Kapoor took to Twitter and wrote, “Congratulations @mirabai_chanu !! This is incredible!! #TeamIndia #Cheer4India.” 

Even Dia Mirza, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan congratulated Chanu for the big win.

After coming back home, Chanu received a cheque of Rs 1 Crore as a cash reward from Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh along with the Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports) appointment order.

On the work front, R Madhavan is currently prepping for his next role in the movie, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. The film is based on ISRO scientist Nambi Narayan.
