Kapil Sharma Biopic Announcement Leaves People With Mixed Reactions & Here’s Why

Recently, Kapil Sharma dropped the teaser of his upcoming comedy special titled Kapil Sharma: I’m Not Done Yet to be streamed on Netflix. And now, a biopic has been announced on the ace comedian’s life.

To be helmed by director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba of Fukrey fame, the Kapil Sharma biopic titled Funkaar will be backed by Lyca Productions.

Sharing the news, trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted a picture of Kapil Sharma and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba along with a tweet that read, “BIOPIC ON KAPIL SHARMA: ‘FUKREY’ DIRECTOR TO DIRECT… A biopic on #KapilSharma has been announced… Titled #Funkaar… #MrighdeepSinghLamba – director of #Fukrey franchise – will direct… Produced by #MahaveerJain [#LycaProductions]… #Subaskaran presents. #KapilSharmaBiopic”.

As soon as the announcement was made, there were some who expressed interest and excitement about the biopic. One person wrote, “Biopic On #SelfMadeSuperstar Kapil Sharma !! Auspicious News Of the Day”.

However, there were many who criticised Bollywood for making only biopics and remakes these days. And also questioned the need for a film on the life of Kapil Sharma so early in his career.

One person tweeted, “Sad to see #Bollywood became biopic and remake machine. Industry badly needed talents like the 1990s and 2000s who made several industry hits and gained fans across the globe.”

Another person wrote, “Bollywood is full dramatic, Biopic / Remake iske alava aur kuch nehi, Atlast Kapil sharma ki biopic kyun vaii manta hu achcha comedy show host karta hain achcha lagta hain bt wo kaunda aisa teer mar liya, Bollywood ahista ahista oura khatam”.
