Jennifer Aniston Defends Cutting Off Anti-Vax Friends Statement

Lately, Jennifer Aniston has been facing a backlash over her statement of cutting off her anti-vaccine friends. The actress had admitted to cutting off friends over their opinions on being vaccinated. She criticised those who have their views influenced by fear and propaganda.

Aniston told InStyle: “There’s a large group of people who are anti-vaxxers or just don’t listen to the facts. It’s a real shame. I’ve just lost a few people in my weekly routine who have refused or did not disclose [whether or not they had been vaccinated].” She described losing contact with these people as “unfortunate”. Aniston went on to say that it is “your moral and professional obligation” to inform others of your vaccination status.

Dealing with criticism regarding her move, she posted a comment to her Instagram story, asking why she had to worry around those who were not inoculated if she received protection from the vaccine, and wrote that the variant is transmittable, even to a vaccinated body.

She further explained that if she is infected, she may slightly become ill, but may not be hospitalised and/or die. However, she can spread the variant to someone who does not have the vaccine or has severe health issues or a previously existing condition. This is what worries her. In conclusion, she wrote that we have to care more about other people than only ourselves. She posted the following story which was a piece of fabric that had these words embroidered: “What doesn’t kill you mutates and tries again”

Aniston rose to fame as Rachel Green in the U.S. television sitcom Friends from 1994 to 2004. It followed a group of six New Yorkers in their 20s and 30s. Earlier this year, the cast of the show hit the headlines when they reunited on screen for the first time in 17 years. Aniston broke an Instagram record, which has now been broken when she joined the social media platform in 2019, and now has 37 million followers.
