Jalaram Temple Chicago Commemorates ‘Jalaram Punya Tithi’ with Celebrations

CHICAGO, IL- On March 5, 2024, the Jalaram Temple in Hoffman Estates, IL, commemorated the ‘Jalaram Punya Tithi’ with great fervor and devotion. Over 300 devotees participated in the celebrations, which included soulful renditions of ‘Bhajan’ and ‘Kirtan’. Seven couples performed the sacred ‘Punya Tithi’ Puja, invoking blessings and seeking divine grace.

The temple priest elucidated the significance of the ‘Punya Tithi’, narrating the life and legacy of Jalaram Bapa, who transcended earthly bounds on February 23, 1881, at the venerable age of 81. It is believed by many ardent followers that even in his physical absence, Jalaram Bapa continues to manifest extraordinary miracles. One such poignant tale recounts how he miraculously quenched the thirst of his sister with water, mere hours after his earthly departure.

Following the enlightening discourse, devotees united in harmonious devotion, offering prayers through the traditional rituals of ‘Bhavni’, ‘Thal’, and ‘Arti’. Subsequently, the congregation partook in the blessed sacrament, relishing the sanctified offerings of ‘Khichdi’, ‘Kadhi’, ‘Bundi’, and ‘Ganthiya’ as ‘Prashad’.

The atmosphere reverberated with spiritual energy as devotees immersed themselves in the timeless traditions and teachings, reaffirming their faith and reverence for Jalaram Bapa. The celebration served as a poignant reminder of his enduring presence and the boundless grace bestowed upon his devotees.
