‘It Was A Toss-Up Between Imran And Ranbir’, Delhi Belly Director Speaks On Lead Role

Delhi Belly, one of the most popular and successful indie films to come out in India, recently completed a landmark 10 years of the release and director Abhinay Deo is obviously still aware of the fact that the film still gets talked about a lot for being so different.

However, Delhi Belly director Abhinay, said while there had been no signings, the selection was really between Ranbir and Imran.

“No, they (Ranbir and Chitrangda) were not signed for the film. Ranbir was approached for the film though. At that point, he had also done just one film, Saawariya. It was a toss-up between Imran and Ranbir as both of them had done one film each, and they did not have much baggage. Chitrangda’s name did come up, but it did not go through and was never finalized.” said Abhinay.

Before doing the film, Imran Khan had already become a popular figure in Bollywood due to his performances in his debut film Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, but apart from him, there really weren’t a lot of star names.
