Introducing Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon Light Up Smartwatch

BUY-SELL | HELP WANTED | MATRIMONIAL

To reiterate the rise in smartwatch popularity will be a cliché in itself. Over the past few years, we have seen an incredible increase in the manufacture and sale of smartwatches across all brands and price segments. We have also witnessed many traditional luxury watch brands contributing to the high-tech market segment’s astronomical rise. Louis Vuitton is one of them.

As one of the first luxury brands to enter this category back in 2017, Louis Vuitton has made news once again with its latest third-generation connected watch—the Tambour Horizon Light Up. Pegged as one of its most exclusive and creative connected watches yet, the brand promises to deliver a complete smartwatch experience with bold Louis Vuitton aesthetics and sensibilities.

Offering a never-before-seen level of customisation and personalisation, the new Tambour Horizon Light Up is a redesigned, reimagined and reengineered smartwatch. From the watch faces (a likely area for customisation) to a rare custom-made operating system, the Tambour Horizon Light Up promises a seamless blend of arts and technology.

Measuring 44mm, the watch’s stainless steel case is heavy on the wrist. The brand has taken the familiar case structure of the original Tambour and adapted it for the connected Horizon. However, the beautifully curved sapphire glass that wraps over the case like an infinity pool makes the watch look much smaller on the wrist. Instead of the usual bezel, the crystal extends down to the case side, where the Louis Vuitton Monogram ring is fitted with 24 LED lights. Once the watch is activated, the lights turn up in a “dancing kaleidoscope of colours”. The case profile is available in a trio of finishes, including polished stainless steel, matte brown and the two-tone edition of matte black with titanium crown and lugs.

One of the highlights of the new connected watch is its ability to offer customisation to its consumers. Pegged as the most customisable connected watch of the world, the Tambour Horizon Light Up comes with watch faces that can be tailored to suit the wearer’s mood, look, and occasion. There are eight built-in dial configurations to choose from, including one in striped animation (a nod to Maison’s early trunks) and another featuring Vivienne (Maison’s enchanting mascot). The wearer can even add their initials with colour and typeface choices.

The Tambour Horizon Light Up’s customisation story extends to an exclusive operating system developed to deliver a highly intuitive experience. “Its functions appear on the screen through a simple system of swipes. Swiping right brings up ‘My Day’, with agenda, weather, step count, heart rate and even air quality displays; down brings notifications; up reveals a control panel, covering all manner of functions, from timers and alarms to music and Alipay; and left takes the wearer into ‘My Travel’, where they can access travel plans and boarding passes, and 30 of Louis Vuitton’s expertly curated City Guides,” the brand explains. The watch is also compatible with Android and Harmony OS smartphones.

The new Tambour Horizon Light Up is also one of the first Louis Vuitton smartwatches to feature pushers into its case structure. These pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock allow a quick shortcut to shuffle between face options and configurations or a one-touch shortcut to a selected application. The heart rate monitor on the case back brings in a range of fitness-related functions. Other additional features include water-resistance of 30 metres, an all-day battery in four modes, and a sliding scale that controls the watch’s animation.

The Tambour Horizon Light Up is compatible with the Maison’s Louis Vuitton Connect app. It allows users for a seamless experience where they can tap into the watch’s various customisation tools and access the ‘My Travel’ section. Set with a quick-release strap changing system, the brand offers a number of options for the strap.

The Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon Light Up connected watch price is Rs 2.56 lakh (approximately).
