India’s Independence Day Celebrated in Boston by Indian American Foundation

BOSTON, MA – Boston celebrated India’s cultural heritage and patriotism during the third International India Day Parade, organized by the Foundation of Indian Americans (FIA) New England on August 10. The event marked India’s 78th Independence Day, drawing participants from 32 countries in a vibrant showcase of tradition and unity.

The parade featured prominent guests, including former Miss World Diana Hayden, Consul General of India in New York Binaya S. Pradhan, former Indian Cricket Team for Blinds Captain Ajay Reddy, and Hollywood actress Neetu Chandra. The procession moved through Boston’s India Street, honoring veterans, law enforcement, and senior citizens along the way.

This year’s parade also emphasized the importance of small businesses, providing a platform for over 40 enterprises to display their products, promoting economic engagement. FIA President Abhishek Singh highlighted the significance of freedom and the contributions of freedom fighters from both India and the USA, while advocating for the empowerment of small businesses.

The event concluded with a flag hoisting ceremony and a cultural program featuring performances by various talented groups, including Northeastern and Sankalp, at Boston Harbor.
