Indian-origin parents held in US in baby death case

handcuffNew York, Feb 3: The parents of a 19-month-old boy in the US state of Connecticut, who died from head injuries after his babysitter allegedly slammed him to the floor, have been arrested.

The parents, Thenmozhi Rajendran, 24, and Sivakumar Mani, 33, of New Haven, were charged with risk of injury to a child and interfering with police, the Hartford Courant newspaper reported..

Police, however, said the baby sitter Kinjal Patel, who was arrested and charged with manslaughter last week, is the prime suspect.

Her bail was set at $1 million.

Patel, 27, earlier allegedly told police that she got angry with the baby and forced him to the floor at her home in New Haven city, injuring his skull on Jan 16.
