Indian juniors bag nine medals in Shooting Hopes meet

New Delhi, June 17: A 24-member Indian junior shooting squad has returned home with a rich haul of two gold, five silver and two bronze medals from the prestigious Shooting Hopes competition held in the Czech Republic, it was announced on Tuesday.

Among the notable performers, Achal Pratap Grewal won the only individual gold medal in the 25m pistol. In the team event for the same category, the Indian trio of Samarjit Singh, Shivam Shukla and Arjun Das also struck gold medal in the tournament held between June 10 and June 14 at Plzen, the Czech Republic.

Additionally, Yashaswini Singh Deswal, Shreya Gawande, Gauri Sheoran among the women and Akhil Sheoran among the men also returned with medals.

This is the International Shooting Sport Federation's (ISSF) premiere event for juniors and was the 25th year of the competition. As many as 362 junior shooters from 20 countries participated in the event.
