WASHINGTON, DC — The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association has named Navdeep Singh as its new policy director.

The Indian American will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies and programs to support NAPABA’s policy priorities in his new role.
“It is a tremendous honor to join NAPABA,” Singh said in a statement. “I am excited to support NAPABA in its continued efforts to address the civil rights issues confronting Asian Pacific American communities, and to help ensure a robust, dynamic, and successful future for NAPABA and the Asian Pacific American community.”
Singh, an expert in strategic legal policy and civil rights, was previously at the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund in the same role.
At SALDEF, he co-authored a study, “Turban Myths,” which is one of the first to examine implicit bias and the Sikh American community. In addition, Singh has advised the FBI on the implementation of expanded hate-crime categories and developed one of the first national Sikh American public service announcements on TV.
Prior to joining SALDEF, Singh held legal positions at the Transportation Security Administration, the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, as well as in the private sector.
He is a graduate of the FBI’s Citizen’s Academy and has received the Nelson Chow Award and the 21 Society Award for community service.
Singh received his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School and his B.S. in systems engineering and economics with a minor in Asian Pacific American studies from the University of Virginia.
