Indian abortion doc is finally hauled up

WARR ACRES (OK) — A longtime abortion doctor was arrested on December 9 at his clinic, Outpatient Services for Women.

Dr. Nareshkumar Patel, 62, is accused of obtaining money by false pretenses.

His arrest was the result of an undercover investigation initiated by the Oklahoma attorney general’s office.

Patel has been the center of controversy repeatedly since getting his medical license in Oklahoma in May 1984.

In 1992, he was the focus of national attention for burning 55 aborted fetuses in a rural area east of Shawnee. He was not disciplined or charged for his action.

Patel told the state medical board he and his office manager took the fetuses to an abandoned recreational vehicle park he owned near Shawnee and he set fire to them on a gravel road.
