Himachal continues to shiver

Shimla, Jan 4 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh continued to shiver on Sunday after days of rain and snowfall in the higher reaches.

The minimum temperature in the state capital Shimla was 1.2 degrees Celsius, down from Saturday’s 3.2 degrees, an official at the local meteorological office told IANS. The town saw 14.9 mm rain.

The minimum and maximum temperatures here dipped by one to two degrees, the official said.

Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district and Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw the lows of minus 9.5 and minus 3.2 degrees respectively. Both towns also recorded 4 cm and 11.6 cm snow respectively.

Manali recorded a low of minus two degrees with a rainfall of 22 mm. The night temperature at Dharamsala stood at 3.4 degrees.

Kumarsain in Shimla district recorded a rainfall of 46 mm, the highest in the state.

The Met Office said dry weather would prevail in the state in the coming days.
