‘Freedom run’ organised in Khammam

Khammam: A ‘Freedom run’ organised commemorating Indian independence’ 75th anniversary witnessed active participation of citizens of different age groups here on Saturday.

TRS Lok Sabha Leader, Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao has flagged off and took part in the Freedom Run from SR&BGNR College to Lakaram Tank Bund as part of the event titled ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

Addressing the gathering the MP called upon the public to dedicate some of their time to engage in physical exercises in a day to stay fit. One should spend at least 30 minutes in a day and children have to be encouraged to maintain an exercise regime from their childhood.

Following the call given by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi the event ‘Freedom run’ was organised all over India. The objective of the event was to stress on the need for physical fitness and create a healthy India, the MP noted.

The event was attended by city Mayor P Neeraj, District Collector Gautam, Commissioner of Police Vishnu S Warrier, district sports officer Parandhama Reddy, Nehru Yuva Kendra coordinator Anvesh and others were present.

CMRF cheques worth Rs 23 lakh distributed

Earlier in the day, MP Nageswara Rao handed over Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) cheques to several beneficiaries by visiting their homes in Yerrupalem mandal. Similarly at a programme at the Khammam camp office he distributed CMRF cheques to beneficiaries from Wyra, Karepalli, Singarani, Enkoor, Konijerla, Kothagudem, Paloncha and Khammam mandals.

In all 65 cheques worth Rs 23 lakh have been distributed by the MP. Speaking on the occasion he said the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao has been paying special attention for the speedy release of CMRF cheques to beneficiaries.

DCC Bank Chairman K Nagabhushanam, Wyra MLA, Ramulu Naik, DCMS Chairman R Seshagiri Rao, Rythu Bandhuy Samithi convener, N Venkateshwar Rao, TRS leader Maddineni Baby Swaranakumari, ZTPC members from different mandals were present.
