HI INDIA NEWS DESK
FLORIDA- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed comprehensive anti-illegal immigration laws into effect, claiming they are the most ambitious in the nation and will prevent state taxpayers from subsidizing undocumented immigration.

The legislation compels hospitals to ascertain patients’ immigration status and record the costs of their care. More employers are now obligated to use an electronic database to detect unauthorized hires, while driver’s licenses from other states may no longer be valid in Florida for undocumented immigrants. However, concerns arise that these measures could negatively impact the state, particularly in sectors heavily reliant on undocumented workers like agriculture, construction, and hospitality.

The shortage of labor has caused project delays, higher costs, and some workers relocating to other states. Critics also point out the potential negative economic consequences and human rights concerns associated with the law.
