New Delhi, Oct 21 (IANS) Five people, including a juvenile, have been apprehended for attacking two Delhi Police constables here in the capital, police said Monday.

Mandeep, 29, and Satender, 39, both working with the Uttam Nagar police station in west Delhi, were on patrol duty when they were attacked around 7.30 p.m. Sunday for objecting to the accused consuming alcohol in a park.

A police official said: "The constables were attacked with sticks and stones. They were rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger."

He said: "Five people, including a 17-year-old juvenile, have been apprehended. At the time of the incident, the accused were drunk."

The others — Jagat, Suresh, Chandar and Naresh — were arrested late Sunday night from their different hideouts.

Oct 13, a 42-year-old Delhi Police constable was killed while his 35-year-old colleague sustained serious injuries when they were fired upon while they were on patrol in west Delhi’s Vijay Vihar area.

Two policemen had a providential escape Oct 11 after some men opened fire at them in Connaught Place while two people had shot dead a 26-year-old constable Sep 27 in east Delhi’s Jafrabad area.
