First Diwali ‘annakut’ of Umiya Dham

CHICAGO, IL- More than 1,000 people attended Shree Umiya Dham Chicago Midwest’s (SUDCM) first Diwali ‘Annakut’ celebration organized on November 6 at Rana Regan Community Center in Carol Stream IL.

On display was a unique decoration of Annakut offering over 400 homemade food items. The cultural program started at 2 pm with Gayatri Mantra Gita Slock sung by three very young age children.

During the Annakut procession, Garba was played by all devotees. On behalf of SUDCM, Chhotu Patel welcomed the devotees and congratulated all women who, he said, were the real force for organizing the event. He also thanked Mani Patel who was responsible of designing and building the stage for Umiya Mataji Murti and Annakut display.

SUDCM trustee Pankaj Patel was an expert in managing and directing all activities throughout the entire event. MC Jatin Patel invited all to participate in ‘Uchamni’ and many devotees quickly responded by opening their hearts and purses.

Devotees and invited guests chanted "Bol mari Umiya, Jai Jai Umiya".

Puja Vidhi was performed by Dharmendra Bhatt (Manav Seva Mandir).

At least 15 couples participated in Arti coordinated by Satish, Kirti and Gaurang. At the end of the program, on behalf of SUDCM, Chhotu Patel thanked Hari and Parsotam Pandya (Bhartiya Seniors of Chicago) Manshukh (Senior Samaj), Narsinh Patel (Indian Seniors of Chicago) supported this event.

He also thanked everyone who attended and appreciated and also thanked everyone their support.

The event was concluded with maha prasad’ and dinner.
